Starting from 1 January 2025, all students applying for a Student visa while already in Australia must now include a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) with their application. This aligns with the existing requirement for Student visa applications lodged both inside and outside Australia.

What This Means for You

New Applications:

• From 1 January 2025, all Student visa applications must include a CoE at the time of submission.
• Applications without a CoE will be considered invalid and will not be processed.

Applications Lodged Before January 2025:

• If you submitted your Student visa application before 1 January 2025 using only a Letter of Offer, your application will not be affected by this change.

Bridging Visas and Compliance

• If your Student visa application is deemed invalid due to missing a CoE, you will not be granted an associated Bridging visa.
• Before your current visa expires, you must:
  • Obtain a CoE and lodge a new Student visa application.
  • Explore alternative visa options.
  • Leave Australia before your visa expires to remain compliant.

Who Is Not Affected?

Students under the following programs are exempt from this requirement:

• Foreign Affairs and Defence students.
• Secondary Exchange students.

• Leaving Australia before your visa expires.
