Peta Crewe Appointed as Regional Manager for UniSA’s Mount Gambier Campus
Peta Crewe, a seasoned leader in regional development, has been appointed as the new Regional Manager for the University of South Australia’s (UniSA) Mount Gambier campus. She will officially take on the role on March 3, succeeding Ian McKay, who is retiring after eight years of dedicated service.
Crewe brings with her over 25 years of experience in the Limestone Coast region, with expertise spanning forestry, agriculture, livestock, and community development. Her professional journey includes roles within government agencies, ForestrySA, and various strategic working groups and committees. Currently serving as General Manager, Regions, for South Australia’s Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA), she oversees development initiatives across 11 regional offices.
UniSA Vice Chancellor Professor David Lloyd expressed his enthusiasm for Crewe’s appointment, highlighting her strong track record in addressing regional challenges.
“Peta has an outstanding history of delivering successful regional programs and tackling key issues such as workforce shortages, housing affordability, industry growth, and community capacity building,” said Prof. Lloyd. “Her extensive experience and deep-rooted connections within the Limestone Coast will be invaluable assets to both our University and the broader local community.”
As Crewe steps into her new position, she follows in the footsteps of Ian McKay, who has played a pivotal role in strengthening UniSA’s ties with the Mount Gambier community. Prof. Lloyd acknowledged McKay’s contributions, stating, “Ian has been a remarkable advocate for UniSA, significantly enhancing our regional engagement. We extend our gratitude for his efforts and wish him the very best in his retirement.”
Crewe holds an agriculture degree from the University of Adelaide and a Master’s in Forest Science. Her previous work as PIRSA's regional coordinator for the Limestone Coast, along with her commitment to community initiatives—such as managing the Blue Lake Soccer Club’s Senior Women’s team—demonstrates her passion for regional development and community enrichment.
