Swinburne University of Technology has achieved significant progress in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, with 17 subjects recognized globally. Notable improvements include Architecture, Education, and Engineering, reflecting Swinburne's dedication to academic and research excellence.

Swinburne University Rises in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

Swinburne University of Technology continues to strengthen its global reputation, with 17 subjects recognised in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The latest results reflect the university’s commitment to academic and research excellence.

Subject Highlights

Swinburne’s Architecture and Built Environment program made a significant leap, entering the top 200 in the world, up from the top 240 in 2024. Similarly, Education improved its standing, now ranked in the 301–350 band, up from 351–400 last year.

Art and Design held its impressive position within the top 150 globally, while Media and Communications and Physics and Astronomy both secured places in the top 250 worldwide. Engineering – Civil and Structural also earned recognition among the top 275.

In the broader engineering disciplines, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials Science each achieved rankings within the top 300 globally, highlighting Swinburne’s well-rounded strengths in the field.

Faculty-Wide Recognition

Swinburne’s Engineering and Technology faculty climbed 22 positions, reaching 333rd in the world, an improvement from 355 in 2024. This rise demonstrates the university’s momentum in delivering industry-relevant programs and impactful research.
